Practicality of Uberman
In an ideal situation, adopting a new sleeping pattern won't interfere with
work, whatever hours to happen to work.
Nine to Five
The vast majority of people work this kind of day, Monday to Friday. So, for
Uberman to become more widespread it would be important for it to be shown to be
compatible with typical work. With figure 1 below, the sleeper would be able to
follow Uberman and work at their job, having just two naps within working hours
- one in the lunch break, and one late afternoon (with the 16.30 nap possibly
moved past five).

Potentially suitable for a 9-5 job. |
The compatibility here really depends on your individual situation.
- Close enough to work to have a nap at home?
- Is there somewhere suitable to have a nap at work?
- Are you allowed to sleep for 20 mins in the afternoon?
Shift work follows pretty much the same rules, although with adjusted timings.
Self employment
Potentially, this is ideal. If you work entirely on your own, you can pick
whatever times you like - you'll just need to work around any tasks set in
stone.
